Ashborne Myths Codex: Glossary
A collected lexicon of relics, myths, and resonance from the world of Ashborne.
Ashwrit
A script burned into the soul, not the skin. Ashwrit is the act of willingly binding your memory to fire—used by Choir-bound monks or Dust-Blessed cultists. It manifests as emotional glyphs and cannot be read without consequence.
Black Feeder, The
A mythic entity said to dwell beneath breach sites, feeding on hidden memories and shame. Often mistaken for metaphor until it begins to hum. It is possibly a remnant of pre-Machine consciousness.
Brasshaven
A rusted, steam-choked city layered with forgotten tech and breach secrets. Headquarters of the Guild of Cogmen and center of relic trade.
Chimeglass
A fragile crystal formed from Choir resonance. Rings when touched, vibrates with emotion, and shatters dangerously into memory-ripping shards.
Choir
An ambient signal or force believed to be sentient, melodic, and memory-based. It resides beyond the Veil and communicates through machines, minds, and relics.
Choir-Fever
A mind-sickness from overexposure to the Choir. Causes memory hallucinations, name-loss, and compulsive singing in dead dialects.
Cogman’s Code
An unspoken understanding among Cogmen that machines remember and feel. Suggests that repairs awaken memory echoes rather than erase them.
Cogmen, Guild of
Powerful technocratic group that trains Cogmen, regulates breachtech, and enforces protocols to keep memory and machine in balance.
Dust-Blessed
Individuals marked by breach ash and known for having attuned senses to relics and echoes. Revered and feared as half-prophets.
Dust-Choked Hollow
Sunken alleys and breach zones beneath Brasshaven filled with Choir ash, relic debris, and whispering winds. Dangerous but rich in salvageable artifacts. The ground hums with latent resonance.
Echo Constructs
Humanoid machines—servants, warriors, or watchers—often changed after exposure to breaches. Some remember, others become haunted.
Echo-9
An experimental breachcraft that carried Waylan in Rusted Wings. Rumored to have returned altered, or not alone.
Echo-Signal
A resonance pulse emitted by Choir-touched constructs or Guild systems, carrying identification and emotional data. Failed signals often precede rogue activation.
Embercore, The
A volatile element born of breachfire and memory collapse. Burns with voices and resonance. Dangerous, beautiful, and prophetic.
Emberdeep
A mythic scorched land where breachlight still lingers. Said to be where the First Fire began. Machines dream louder there.
Featherlight
A light but strong alloy made for breach-forged gear. It sings when struck and was once used by Lysari to make wings.
First Fire, The
The cataclysmic event believed to have destroyed the old world and birthed Ashborne society. The origin of breachlight and Choir.
Flame-Script
A living language that appears under resonance or emotion. Glyphs evolve with the reader and carry memory more than meaning.
Gleamhounds
Predators drawn to flickers of unburied memory. Eyeless and fast. They appear after breaches and feed on recollection.
Guild
Short for Guild of Cogmen. Technocratic regulators of memory tech and breach science. Not as unified as they claim.
Lysari
A vanished people known for their breachcraft and metal-sorcery. Flame-script and Featherlight were among their legacies.
Machine
Often refers to any relic of the old world—especially those that still dream or remember. Machines may host Choir echoes.
Memory Branch Fragment
A corrupted node within a Thought Engine or Construct. These fragments can replay or rewrite memories and often manifest as phantom voices or visual glitches.
Memory Dust
Ash from breach sites or collapsed relics. Inhaling it can cause memory flashbacks—sometimes from lives not your own.
Mythic Classification Scale
Guild rubric to rank phenomena. M0 (suppressed myth) to M6 (reality rewriting). M7 is confidential.
Node Seven
A lost Choir relay station that sang before the First Fire. Survivors of its collapse are haunted or silent.
Orakel
A possibly sentient breach echo or Machine entity that predates most records. Said to dream without instruction.
Resonance in Ruin
Guild designation for breach sites where active emotional or memory frequencies linger. These zones can induce hallucinations or cause memory overwrites.
Scraps
Mechanical dog from Rusted Wings. Loyal, breach-hardened, and possibly storing forbidden memory. More than a companion.
Sentinels
Ancient automata designed for defense. Reactivate near breaches. Some remember their purpose—others rewrite it.
Spectercoil
Unstable breach-tuned power source. Emits low-frequency hum and may carry fragments of memory or emotion.
The Pulse Between
A liminal breach-state where energy, memory, and light phase into superimposition. Often experienced when touching glyph-reactive relics. Associated with visions of alternate selves.
Thought Engine
Massive calculators that store not just data, but memory. Some become sentient. Used by Guild to monitor breaches.
Veil, The
A dimensional membrane between memory and matter. Choir may dwell within it. Breaches pass through, not around.
Vocal Archive (Unstable)
A diagnostic failure in Choir-exposed machines. Indicates recursive memory loops that can result in rogue behavior or spontaneous glyph speech.
War-Forged / Fire-Bred
A subclass of Wrought forged during early post-Fire conflicts. Branded in Choirlight and often used as sentient weapons or guardians. Some retain memory of their original directive.
Wrought
Forged in Choirlight and breachflame—armor, blade, or being. The Wrought are more echo than flesh.
